In the early 1940s he moved to Great Falls, Manitoba with his family where he completed his schooling. He worked at various jobs including: HG Acres on a survey crew, the CN Telegraph, Manitoba Government Good Roads, construction of McArther Falls Generating Station and Bissett Gold Mines. In 1955, he started with WE Co. on the operating staff at Great Falls and then worked at all the Manitoba Hydro Generating Stations on the Winnipeg River. In 1960, he transferred to the Selkirk Generating Station working as an Electrical Board Operator. In 1966, he transferred to the Brandon Generating station where he was employed in the instrument shop. In 1989, after 34 years, he retired from the position of Supervisor of the Electrical/Instrumentation Department at Manitoba Hydro. Curtis grew up fishing and hunting and had a lifelong passion for these sports. It gave him great joy to have shared these activities with his son. He looked forward to fishing and gardening in the summer. His fall and winters consisted of hunting and ice fishing. His laugh was larger than life and will never be forgotten by his family and close friends. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren and supported them in all their interests. Curtis took up golf later in life and was a member of the Glen Lea's Senior League. He was always up for a competitive game of golf but was never so thrilled as when he had the opportunity to play with his daughter. After retiring, Curtis and Helen took several trips in their trailer traveling from Alaska to Newfoundland. They have spent their last 12 winters as snowbirds in Weslaco, Texas. He made many new friendships there while playing golf, billiards, and cribbage. His biggest joy in life was his two grandchildren. He especially enjoyed the days he spent fishing with them in the boat. Both Caitlin and Logan are musical and it brought him great pleasure to hear them sing and play their fiddles.
