Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN BAPTISTE VAN LANDEGHEM With great sadness we announce the passing of our father, husband and brother John Van Landegehem aged 86, on Wednesday, May l4, 2008 at Deer Lodge Centre. John is survived by his wife Norma of 60 years, his four children, John (Vi) of Edmonton, Sheila of Toronto, Laurie (John) of Winnipeg and Linda (Tim) of Winnipeg. Also mourning his loss are his two grand-children Darryl and Nicholas and his brother Albert (Bernadine). John was born in Inglemunster, Belgium on September 19, 1921. He came to Canada with his parents at the age of six and spent his childhood years growing up in St. Boniface. During the Second World War he served in the Navy. John and his brother Albert owned and operated the Winnipeg institution of Jeanne's Bakery for many years. The bakery was started by their father Achille who named it after their mother. When not working at the bakery, John spent many happy hours at Brereton Lake. Together with Norma they traveled widely to such places as Hawaii, Mexico and New Zeland. John also had a love of music; he enjoyed listing to his many LPs and playing the organ. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Deer Lodge Centre (3W) for the care that they provided John during his stay. A special thank you to his brother Albert for the loving assistance he provided his brother while he was at Deer Lodge. In lieu of flowers we ask that donations be made to a charity of your choice. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
