January 25, 1929 - May 14, 2008 Peacefully on May 14, 2008 at the Fisher Personal Care Home in Fisher Branch, MB at the age of 79. A beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Walter (dad) will be sadly missed by his wife of 42 years Ruth; his children, Cheryl (Jason White), Darryl, Shelley (Barclay Uruski), and Tracey; his grandchildren, Courtney and Brendan Uruski, Kenan, Kylie and Carson White. Dad was raised in Fisher Branch and Hodgson, MB, where his parents operated a family store and pool hall. For many years, dad's accordion was his first love, and then he met mom who captured his heart. They married in 1965 and had 4 children. Dad spent many years farming and logging until 1976 when he and mom entered the hotel business, first in Letellier and then Plumas. Dad always charmed customers with his sense of humor and friendly personality. A man of many talents, dad was a self-taught musician who loved to play the accordion. On Sundays he would play and we kids would dance. Dad was also an excellent cook, and he was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting with his family and friends. Dad, we will miss your great big smile and your infectious laugh. You're forever in our hearts. We love you. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart Stroke Foundation of Manitoba or the Fisher Personal Care Home.
