Date of Passing: May 14, 2008
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELSIE ENGEN (nee WAGNER) Peacefully on May 14, 2008 at the Grace Hospital with her family by her side, Elsie passed away at the age of 83 years. To cherish her memories she leaves to mourn, her children, Sharon (Tom), Charlie (Lucie), Harry (Leslie); sister Sylvia Hamilton; grandchildren, Phil, Stuart (Jess), Kelly Joanne, Alexander, Harrison; great-grandchild Ethan, along with many other relatives and friends. Elsie was predeceased by her husband Karl; son Karl; sister Claire; brothers, Bob and Fred. Elsie lived life to the fullest. She was able to stay in her home until the last moment. She loved flowers and gardening. Always on the go, shopping and visiting friends at Polo Park, birthday lunches with her bingo buddies, watching her grandsons and doing anything that involved her family. She had her regular bingo spots - Army Navy, Deer Lodge Community Centre and the St. James Legion #4. Oh the sweats she would have. She loved country music but her very favourite was Lawrence Welk - she saw him at the Concert Hall and was thrilled when she got a signed picture of him. She especially loved her family and the time spent together for holidays, special occasions, bingo or just because. Lots of laughter and the jelly belly could be seen around the old dining room table. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of the ICU and 3rd floor of the Grace Hospital for their exceptional care and thoughtfulness and a special thank you goes to Jackie for her care, love and support over the past 10 years. She became part of Elsie's life and extended family. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. A celebration of Elsie's life will be held on Thursday, May 22 at 1:00 p.m. at the St. James United Church, 234 Parkview St., with a reception to follow at the St. James Legion #4, 1755 Portage Ave. We will miss you, but as long as life and memory lasts - we will remember you.
