PATRICIA ANN MCKENZIE 1932 - 2008 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our dear cousin and friend, Pat, on Friday, April 18, 2008 at Grace Hospital after a short illness. Left to cherish her memory are cousin Albert (Idell) Brady of Winnipeg and many close friends. Pat was born in Hartney, MB on October 12, 1932, the only child of Clyde and Ella (McCullough) McKenzie. Her early school years were spent in Hartney and Winnipeg, finally moving to Boissevain at age 10 where she completed her schooling. At the age of 19 (1952), she entered St. Boniface School of Nursing and graduated as an R.N. in 1955. Her many years of nursing were spent in Selkirk, Calgary, and finally in Winnipeg where she worked in acute care, Public Health and lastly in extended care. She spent her nursing years as an intelligent, conscientious and kind caregiver and in all aspects of her life took the moral high ground. She retired from Winnipeg Municipal Hospital in March 1966. Pat enjoyed all sports but participated in skating, curling, skiing and swimming and kept herself current in all spectator sports. She could hold her own in any discussion on the subject. Travel was always a pleasure and she had many trips with friends. She was a member of Boissevain St. Paul's United Church and was interested in her Nursing Alumni Assoc. Pat made and maintained many close friendships throughout her life and was especially close to her many nursing friends. It was said that she was the glue that kept them together, always acting as a go-between for exchange of information about each other. Her interest in her friends extended also to their children in whose lives she took an active interest. She will be sadly missed and remembered as the true and loyal friend of a lifetime. A graveside service and interment was held in Boissevain on April 23, 2008. Donations in her memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba or The Arthritis Society.
