Date of Passing: May 12, 2008
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGARET ELIZABETH (BETTIE) THRELFALL (nee FRYDAY) Bettie passed away peacefully at home May 12, 2008 just one month short of her 83rd birthday. She was predeceased by her loving husband, John, a year ago. Bettie was born in Winnipeg and lived there until shortly before John's retirement, when they moved to Vancouver. They settled in Kelowna in 1999. They both loved the sense of community and good friends they made there. Summers at the cottage in Moose Lake, Manitoba, continued to be a highlight and she didn't miss one in 49 years. Bettie was active in every community in which she lived. For much of her life she was an avid volunteer and a Girl Guide leader and Commissioner. She was an active Unity Truth student who lived by her beliefs and touched many lives. She made friends easily with both the young and old and took care to maintain those friendships. Bettie's legacy to her family is a zest for life, a positive outlook, her sense of fun and the value she placed on family. She took her role as wife and mother seriously and worked hard to ensure that her children and grandchildren could achieve their potential. She loved to entertain and wherever she lived she created a warm and loving home. She is survived by her son, Jim (Doreen), daughter, Pat May (Tony), five grandchildren: Sean (Lia), Terry, Dan, Chris and Elizabeth; great granddaughter, Lauren, her sister, Fran and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at Sandlewood Adult Community Clubhouse on Sunday, May 25, 2008 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cancer Centre for the Southern Interior, 399 Royal Avenue, Kelowna, BC, V1Y 5L3 or the Central Okanagan Hospice Association, 202-1456 St. Paul Street, Kelowna, BC, V1Y 2E6.Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.springfieldfuneralhome.com, 250-860-7077.
