Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALICE MARY GILL It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mother, Alice Mary Gill on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at the age of 90 years, her family privileged to be at her bedside. Remaining to forever cherish Alice's memory are her children, Tom (Joan) Gill and Mary-Ann (Lyle) Cairns; grandchildren, Gregory, Andrew (Donna) and Scott Cairns; great-grandchildren Taylor and Mitchell Cairns; sister Edith Shore; brother George (Shirley) Scott and Irene (Bill) Robertson. She was predeceased by her loving husband John in October, 1945; her daughter Catherine in October, 1974 and parents Steven and Zella Scott. Born in Bounty, Saskatchewan, Alice grew up in Winnipeg. She married John Joseph Gill, August 26, 1939. Widowed at the age of 26 years, life was full of struggles as she raised her three children with strength and dignity. For several years Mom worked as a florist and then with the Manitoba Telephones, retiring in 1977. Upon retiring she remained very active working with the Telephone Pioneers and becoming very involved in her senior community. She received the 125th Anniversary medal of Canada in 1992 to recognize this work. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 21 at 11:00 a.m. in the Misericordia Place Chapel, 44 Furby Street, with Rev. Fr. Vince Herner and Rev. Fr. Pat Morand, presiding. Interment will follow in Assumption Roman Catholic Cemetery, 3990 Portage Avenue. Pallbearers will be her son, Tom Gill; son-in-law, Lyle Cairns; grandsons, Gregory, Andrew and Scott Cairns and nephew Jim Robertson. We wish to thank all the staff of Misericordia C6 Extended Care and Misericordia Place Care Home for all the love, care and concern they gave to Mom and to our family, especially these last couple of weeks. It was above and beyond. In lieu of flowers, donations in Alice's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba, Unit 10 - 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2 or to the Misericordia Foundation, 99 Cornish Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C 1A2. Rest In Peace, Mom. We Love You and Thank You. God Bless
