JANET EMILY RODGER May 3, 1928 - May 14, 2008 Mom died peacefully in her sleep at her home in Pine Falls, MB on Wednesday, May 14, 2008, having just celebrated her 80th birthday. She was predeceased by dad, Ian Rodger, her grandson Krisjan Vincent and her brother Jim MacLeod. She is survived by her children Maureen (George), Allister, Jim (Susanne), Bill (Suzanne), her grandchildren Jennifer Vincent, Calum Rodger, Justin, Jordan and Jonathan Rodger and her sister Noranne Burke. Mom was born and raised in Quibell, Ontario. She moved to Pine Falls where she met and married Dad in 1952. She worked for many years as a secretary, first in the Abitibi Mill offices, in the Pine Falls High School, and lastly in the Pine Pharmacy. Mom also worked tirelessly helping to fundraise for the Pine Falls Pipe Band, even hosting countless band practices in her home. Mom was a loving person who always saw only the best in others. She enjoyed baking, doing her crosswords, making paper toll pictures and playing in the ladies' weekly card games. She also doted on her pet cat Minnie, and made sure she fed any stray pets wandering by. The family wishes to thank Dr. Thwala and the staff at the Pine Falls Hospital, as well as Shirley and the girls of the Homecare team. A very special thank you to John and Evelyn Bulmer, Norm and Helen Pachkowsky, Jean Bourrier and so many more who were not only good friends, but helped our Mom in her times of need. Memorial mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 20 at 2:00 p.m. in the Notre Dame du Laus Roman Catholic Church, Powerview with Rev. Fr. James Gray presiding. A private family interment will take place in Quibell, Ontario at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made to the Heart Stroke Foundation, 200 - 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3L 0K6. Rest in peace, Mom. We miss you.
