CLARA GOLDBERG It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Clara Goldberg on Wednesday, May 6, 2008 at 98 years of age. She will be lovingly remembered by her son Jerry (Shelley), grandson Darren and sister Sally Chisick; nephews Ernie (Dolly) Chisick of Winnipeg; Romi (Leah) and Roni (Perach) Lifshitz of Israel; niece Florence (Bernie) Band of Montreal, and their families. She was predeceased by her husband Teddy, parents Israel and Lea Lifshitz, siblings Aaron, Julia and Bertha, and nephew Richard. Clara was born in Lviv, Poland and immigrated to Winnipeg, Canada in 1929, gaining employment in the garment industry. In July 1940 she married Teddy and in 1952 their son Jerry arrived. Clara was a loving and devoted wife, mother and baba. She leaves fond memories of the aroma of Friday dinners, kamish baking and Chanukah latkes frying. Clara was an avid bridge player, enjoying regular games with family and friends. In their senior years, Clara and Ted spent happy winters in Hawaii, Florida, California and Arizona. The family thanks the staff of The Waverley for their support of Clara during her residency there. Special thanks to Cynthia, Dawn, Jesse and Bruce for their friendship and kindness. A graveside service was held on Thursday, May 8, 2008 at the Shaarey Zedek Memorial Park. Pallbearers were Darren Goldberg, Ernie Chisick, Sheldon Muttner, Avrom Charach, Bill Weissmann and Jeff Morgan.
