Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBETH NOREEN BERRY (nee GREENAWAY) September 17, 1920 May 15, 2008 Beth was born at Oak River, MB, the eldest of four daughters born to Howard and Nellie Greenaway. Following elementary and high school in Oak River, she attended teacher's college in Winnipeg and began teaching at Havelock, MB at age 19. She later moved to teach at Myrtle, MB and it was there that she met a local farmer, Hugh Berry. They were married November 11, 1944. They farmed in the Roland, MB area until 1954, when they moved with their four children to Franklin, MB. Beth taught high school in nearby Neepawa from 1960 to 1974. They remained at Franklin until they moved to Saskatoon in 1991. Beth passed away at Saskatoon Convalescent Home May 15, 2008. She is survived by her children, son John (Karen) of Calgary, AB, son Glen (Darlene) of Innisfail, AB; daughter Mona (Russ Kuchinski) of Edmonton, AB and daughter Lois (Laurence Thompson) of Saskatoon, SK. She is survived by seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, Ryan Berry (Jennifer) and sons, Jackson and Nicholas of Chestermere AB, Alyssa Berry of Calgary, AB; Angela Berry of Calgary, AB, Matthew Berry of Red Deer, AB, Evan Thompson (Tammy MacFarlane) of Saskatoon, SK, Paul Thompson of Saskatoon, SK; Beth Thompson (Christopher Kulbida) of Saskatoon, SK. She is also survived by her sister Beryl Mitchell of Red Lake, ON and brother-in-law Garth Berry of Cartwright, MB. She was predeceased by her parents, by her husband Hugh in October, 1993, and sisters, Elaine Reichert in October, 1996 and Enid Stewart in July, 2001. Beth was devoted to her family, and especially proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an ardent sports fan, never missing a Blue Jays game, a Blue Bombers game, and later, when she moved to Saskatchewan, the Roughriders. She watched hockey and curling on television, and attended several Briers and Scott Tournaments of Hearts with her sisters and family members. She was an avid bridge player, and enjoyed family outings and fishing trips to Riding Mountain National Park. Following their retirement from farming and teaching, Beth and Hugh enjoyed several winters at the Oxford Castle Inn in Victoria, BC, where they made many friends. Beth's family wishes to thank the staff of the Palisades Assisted Living facility, Palisades Intermediate Care, and the Saskatoon Convalescent Home for there loving care of Mom in her final years. A celebration of Beth's life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 23, 2008 at the Saskatoon Funeral Home. Condolences can be emailed to mail@saskatoonfuneralhome.com.
