FLORENCE BROUGHTON (nee GERVAIS) On Thursday, May 15, 2008 Florence Broughton passed away at The Westhaven where she had been a resident for the last three years. Remaining to forever cherish Florence's memory are her son Brian (Cathy); daughters, Diane Cassells (Richard), Donna Cheung (Alan); grandchildren, Darryl Soshycki (Teresa Wiens), Tim Soshycki (Dayna Solvason), Danica Soshycki, Matthew Broughton, Ryan Cheung and Kristene Cheung. She was Great-Gramma to Keianna, Eden, John, Dylan, Nicholas and Thalia. Florence will also be missed by Peter Soshycki, who always took the time to drop in, and her long time friend El Ramsey; as well as many Gervais siblings, nieces and nephews, and the Broughton Clan. She was predeceased by her son George and her husband Bud. Florence's flashing smile and her bubbling personality attracted many to become her new friends. She and her late husband Bud were long time residents of St. James, starting their married life on King Edward St. later moving to Nightingale Rd. The family is saddened by her sudden departure, and her leaving will create a large void in our lives, we will miss her zest for life and her strong spirit, and determination, she was like the energizer bunny, always kept going and going , even after her debilitating stroke in 1998. Where ever there was a party or laughter, Florence was always in the thick of things, she was the original Party Girl, always perfectly co-ordinated in the latest fashion, cruising in her yellow Dart Swinger, and somehow, her hair was never out of place. She was very proud of her children and her grandkids and especially her great grandchildren, always saying how cute they are. She loved to dance, laugh and have a good time, there are many funny stories and situations that she got herself into that will surely put a smile on our faces when we remember her. Family dinners at Donna and Alan's and late night phone calls to Diane; are some of the things we will miss, there was always an adventure when Florence was around! Florence was a long time employee at The Bay, her staff discounts where a real bonus to her as her wardrobe was always being updated. She was always the fashion plate right down to her rhinestones and her little red boots. Florence Broughton was very young at heart and her age will remain a mystery. A come and go tea will be held on Thursday, May 22 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Westwood Community Church, 401 Westwood Drive. We would like to thank the wonderful staff and homecare workers at the Westhaven for their excellent care and companionship that they shared with Florence during her time there, she enjoyed all the special attention that she was given. You are all very special people. Flowers gratefully declined a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in Florence's memory would be greatly appreciated. The family invites you to send flowers to someone you love today. If you can't find the words in your heart let the flowers speak for you. There was always love. If you have the chance to sit it out or dance I hope you dance
