JUNE WALSH RENNIE (nee GRAHAM) In the early morning of May 15, 2008, June Walsh Rennie peacefully passed away at the Portage la Prairie General Hospital. June was born in Peterborough, Ontario August 8, 1922. While still in her teens, a beautiful June Graham met a handsome Donald Rennie, and in 1941 they were married and spent the next 65 years together. During that time June raised her own three children and had a hand in raising many others. She worked full time, her first job being with the Toronto Dominion Bank in Toronto. Her last employers were Miller, Miller and Miller in Portage la Prairie. That was then she and Don moved to Winnipeg and June started her own bookkeeping business. Besides her regular jobs, June loved her volunteer work at the St. Amant Centre. She also loved a good book, music and dancing, children, animals, a good party and a glass of fine wine. Most of all though, June loved her family and friends, and they loved her. June will always be remembered as a person who opened her heart and home to everyone. She often went without, so she could give to others. June did so expecting nothing in return. Her friendships were true and lasting. Friends will miss her dearly. June leaves behind her daughter Elizabeth Hamilton (Bill) and son David (Pam), grandchildren Bryon Hamilton (Michaela), Kimberly Gurke (Keith), Robin Bickerton (Jayson), Cynthia Peeler, Jordana Rennie, Houston Rennie, Dawson Rennie and Natalia Rennie. Great-grandchildren are Dayne and Tye Bickerton and Amanda Rennie. June was predeceased by her husband Don, son Don and grandson Donald Rennie Jr. A very special thank you to all the staff at the Lions Prairie Manor that helped make the last two years of June's life enjoyable and comfortable. She would want you all to know, how very special you were to her. A funeral service will be held at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel, 56 Royal Road. S., Portage la Prairie, MB on Thursday May 22, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will take place at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in June's memory to Lions Prairie Manor, 24 9th St. SE, Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 3V4 or to St. Amant Centre, 440 River Road, Winnipeg, MB, R2M 3Z9.
