Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCHARLES BARRATT Peacefully on May 18, 2008 with his loving family at his side, Charles Barratt passed away at the age of 88 years. Charles was born in Leeds, England on February 24, 1920. Remaining to cherish his memory, are his loving companion Mary Eastwood; his daughter Christine (Raabe) and son Gordon; grand-children, Janice, Jennifer (Robert), Jason, Angela, Shane, Trevor and Tamara. He also leaves his great-grandchildren, Tyler, Morgan, Matthew, Alyssa, Charlie and Coyote. In England his sister Kathleen and his brother Dennis, as well as numerous nieces and nephews in England, Australia, Spain and Canada. He was predeceased by his wife Dorothy of 38 years; sister Rose; brothers, George, Stanley and Jack. Charles served as a commando in the Second World War and was involved in the D Day invasion. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 004 for the past 25 years. He was a railway foreman in Leeds before coming to Canada in 1953. He worked with the Winnipeg Transit as a Bus Driver from 1954 to 1983. Charlie loved hunting, fishing and camping and was a founding member of the Transit Game and Fish Association. He also enjoyed bowling, darts and was quite the dancer. Travelling the world kept Charles active right to the end, just returning from Spain and England in March.
