JOHN HNATIUK June 18, 1927 May 16, 2008 Mr. John Hnatiuk, aged 80 of Fisher Branch, MB passed away suddenly on Friday, May 16, 2008 with family at his side. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his four children, Bob (Janine) Hnatiuk, Janet (Rene) Bernier, David (Cathy) Hnatiuk, Donna (Roland) Bernier and his precious gift of eight grand-children, Alyssa, Allan, Dustin, Chad, Ashlan, Jenna, Kyle and Kevin. Dad was predeceased by his loving wife Joyce Hnatiuk on May 12, 1999, his parents Harry and Polly Hnatiuk, sister Mary Genyk and brother Steve Hnatiuk. He is survived by two brothers, five sisters and numerous nieces and nephews. Dad was born and raised on a farm in Fisherton, MB. One of his first jobs took him logging in Ontario. In 1951, Dad married his sweetheart, Joyce Williams, moved to Winnipeg and worked as a street car operator for a brief period of time. He later took a position in Selkirk, MB as an Elevator Assistant. In 1957, Dad's love of the land brought them back to the farm, where they settled on the original homestead of Mom's parents in Broad Valley, MB. To assist his farming operations, Dad also took a full time position at the Ukrainian Farmers Co-op from 1977 to 1992. Dad was a special, caring person. His greatest joy was his family. He was a humble, gentle man and will be missed dearly. We love you Dad. You will live forever in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or other charity of choice. It was Dad's wish, that if friends so desire, plant a tree in his memory. Memorial service will be held Saturday, May 24, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Fisher Branch, MB.
