TANYA PATRICIA TALABIS (nee SHUMILAK) Peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer, Tanya, aged 31 years, of Winnipeg, formerly of Garson, MB, passed away at her residence on May 21, 2008 surrounded by family and friends. Tanya was born April 3, 1977 in Winnipeg, MB. Along with her brother and sister Tanya was raised by their grandmother on the family farm in Garson from the age of nine to 16 years attending school in Selkirk. When Tanya was 16 she moved with her family to Winnipeg and graduated from Elmwood High School in 1995. Tanya attended secondary school at South Winnipeg Technical College acquiring office skills which led to her employment at Canadian Tool Die Ltd. She worked there as a production planner for nine years and enjoyed her job and the people she worked with. Tanya was a wonderful mother and wife, mourning her loss are her husband Marlito, her two bundles of joy, her daughter Kayla and her son Marco. She will also be sadly missed by her sister Tina and nephew Jaden, brother Chris, father Jim Shumilak (Pricilla), mother Patricia Handorgan, Marlito's sisters and brothers, nieces and nephews, her best friend Tamara, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and coworkers. Tanya will be remembered for all her wonderful qualities, her caring ways with family and friends, her positive attitude and living life to the fullest. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at Riverview Palliative Care Unit, east wing, third floor and the staff at Family Centre. A very special thank you to the owner and staff at Canadian Tool Die Ltd. who arranged a benefit social on February 22 of this year. It was at this special occasion that one of Tanya's wishes came true when she married Marlito the man of her dreams making their family complete. Prayers will be said on Friday, May 23 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, May 24 at 1:00 p.m. in the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Garson. Her pallbearers will be Jason and Kevin Shumilak, Adam and Evan Wittmeier, Eddie L'heureux and Terry Panisiak. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a Trust Fund for Tanya's two children, Kayla and Marco, in care of Assiniboine Credit Union, 694 St. James St., Winnipeg. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
