RICHARD ALLAN (RICK) ENGEL September 8, 1951 - May 11, 2008 Rick Engel, beloved husband of 37 years of Kathy Engel, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, May 11, 2008 at the age of 56 years, after bravely facing cancer for six months. Kathy will cherish his memory along with daughters Andrea (Mark) Fischer, Michelle (Weylin) Gilewich, Heidi (Steve) Csaszar; grandchildren Alexander and Matthew Fischer; his mother Doris Engel; brothers Chris (Linda) Engel and Jeff (Tracy) Engel; and sister Jan (Bob) Sadler. Also remembered by sister-in-law Debra (Don) Blacklock and mother-in-law Joan Sinder, nephews Trevor, Tyler, Keith, Steven, Andrew, Kristopher, Richard, Paul, nieces Rene, Melanie, Danielle and Trecia, plus numerous family and friends. Rick was predeceased by his father Rene Engel. The family looks forward to the birth of Rick's third grandchild next month. Born and raised in Winnipeg, Rick had a passion for the outdoors. He grew up at his family's rural St. Vital home with relatives nearby. After graduating from Dakota Collegiate he married Kathy, his high school sweetheart. A dedicated family man, Rick moved with his wife and three daughters to Sherwood Park in 1979, where he continued his career in sales. Rick loved watching and playing hockey his whole life long. Rick's ability to relate to people, his gentle nature, loving soul and sense of humour will be dearly missed by those who knew him. The family warmly thanks the Palliative Care staff, Unit 43 at the Grey Nuns Hospital, for their compassion and care. A Celebration of Life was held on Friday, May 16, 2008 at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church in Sherwood Park, AB.
