ALISTAIR NICOLSON It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather Alistair Nicolson, on Wednesday, May 21, 2008. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 54 years, Sabie Nicolson, children Craig (Karen), Fernie, BC; Margo (Norm LeNeal), Stephenfield, MB; Mark (JoAnne), Lockport, MB; Megan (Perry) Taylor, Petersfield, MB; Brad (Sonya), Petersfield, MB; grandchildren, Ryan (Heather) Nicolson, Eric Nicolson, Jessica and Justin LeNeal, Kenny and Vanessa McChesney, Brent, Keith, Tanya and Chad Taylor, Emily Bowerman and Ben and Abigail Nicolson; great-grandchildren, Cameron Nicolson, Jaiden and Makia McChesney; sister Ann (Gordon) Saywell, brother Ray (Joyce) Nicolson; sisters-in-law, Margaret Hovland and Sybil Finnson (Ray Peebles) and numerous nieces, nephews, uncles and aunts. He was predeceased by his father Farquhar Nicolson and mother Emily Nicolson; brothers-in-law, Angus Hovland and Donald Finnson; mother-in-law Margaret Finnson and father-in-law Sigfus Finnson. Alistair was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He spent his early years in Clarkleigh, Manitoba where his father taught school. The family later moved to Arborg, Manitoba where Alistair completed his elementary and high school education. Alistair taught school for two years before moving to various occupations. He earned his carpentry papers at Red River and worked at building for a number of years before going to work for Reimer Express with his own truck. In 1989, he was injured in a highway accident that left him a quadriplegic. Even through this adversity, he never lost his sense of humour or generous nature. His greatest love was his family, especially his grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel in Selkirk In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Childrens Wheelchair Sports or Palliative Care in Selkirk. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
