LOUIS ANDREW STANGER It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that the family announces the passing of our beloved dad, grandpa and great-grandpa on Friday, May 23, 2008 at the Concordia Hospital at the age of 74 years. Left to cherish his memory are his two daughters, Linda (Boris) Shwetz of Winnipeg and Donna (Glen) Pleskacz of Brandon; grandchildren ,Joey (Rhonda) Pleskacz of Calgary, Brenda Pleskacz of Minneapolis, MN., Kelsey and Courtney Shwetz of Winnipeg; great-granddaughter Brooke Pleskacz of Calgary and sister Jean Hemko of Cobourg, ON. Also surviving are sister-in-laws Margaret, Phyllis (Ron), Joyce, Fran, and Jerone (Bob); brother-in-law Ed (Bev) and many nieces, nephews and friends. Lou was predeceased by his wife,Gloria, in 1998, his parents, Andrew and Ruth, parents-in-law, William and Martha, sister Anne, brother Jake and brother-in-law Nick. Lou was born on September 23, 1933 in Ste. Anne, MB and raised in Beausejour, MB. He married the love of his life, Gloria, on May 2, 1959 and together they lived in Winnipeg and Lockport, MB, raising their two daughters. After Mom's passing, Lou lived in Selkirk and for the past five years at Kildonan Personal Care Centre in Winnipeg. Dad worked as a steamfitter throughout his career having to take an early retirement at age 50 due to Parkinson's disease. Dad truly missed Mom after her passing as they spent all their time together. He was a loving, quiet person with a sense of humour. Dad enjoyed spending time with his family and enjoyed many activities with friends at the Kildonan Personal Care Centre. Prayers will be said on Monday (tonight) at 7:00 pm in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday May 27 at 10:30 am at Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church, Selkirk with Fr. Jerry Talarski officiating. Interment will follow in the Parish Cemetery. His pallbearers will be Joey Pleskacz, Ron Romaniuk, Ed Hykawy, Bob Hunt, Randy Yaworski and Jerry Coumont. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Parkinson Society of Manitoba, 302-171 Donald Street, Winnipeg R3C 1M4. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
