WILLIAM (BILL) WEBSTER CASSIE With sadness, the family announces the passing of Bill Cassie, age 70, on May 20, 2008 at the Victoria General Hospital. Bill is survived by his wife, Sandra; his sons, Jim (Ann-Louise) of Santiago (Chile) and Dave (Sherri) of Toronto, along with six grandchildren, Aidan, Tyra, Tait, Ryan, Nate and Quinn. In addition, he is survived by several Cassies including Lorna (Rybuck), Sandy and Garry, along with numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his parents David and Mary, stepmother Jean, sisters Donna, Sandra, Jean and Mildred and brother Jim. Bill was born August 22, 1937 in Winnipeg and raised on Burnell Street in the home still occupied by his brother-in-law Norman. He married his Flower , Sandra Grace Johnson on April 8, 1961 at St. Paul's United Church in the West End. Bill and Sandra then lived across Saskatchewan and Alberta with sons Jim born in 1962 and Dave in 1964. After their return to Winnipeg in 1966, Bill worked at Pittsburg Paints and Atomic Transfer until his retirement at age 62. Bill's great love was his cottage at Laurentia Beach where lots of family and friends spent time with horseshoe games, bonfires, swimming and catching frogs. His other great loves were his Flower , his children and grandchildren and listening to Mickey Gilley and Carol Baker. No funeral will be held as his last wish was to donate his body to medical research. A celebration of his life will be held at the home of Chuck and Sonia Schellenberg on Saturday, May 31 at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please forward a donation to the Siloam Mission (www.siloam.ca or 204-956-4344 in Winnipeg.
