MARGARET GERTRUDE CARMAN (nee BARNES) Peacefully, on May 24, 2008 at Goodwin Lodge, Teulon, beloved wife of the late John Carman, passed away. She was predeceased by her husband John, parents, Lawrence and Gertrude and brother Charles. She leaves to mourn her sisters-in-law, Mariange Carman, Kay Magnusson and Lorraine Barnes, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Margaret was born June 7, 1919 to Lawrence and Gertrude Barnes and grew up in the Sandridge area. She found employment in Winnipeg for a short period of time before moving to the farm after her marriage to John in 1946. For more than 30 years Margaret and John engaged in the business of raising cattle, an endeavour for which they became highly respected. As a member of the Silver Bells Riding Club, Margaret spent many enjoyable hours of riding with her friends. Among the yearly must do list was the annual Lundar Fair - an event which could not be missed. Retirement did not affect Margaret's work ethic and she could always be counted on to lend a helping hand often taxiing friends to medical appointments in Teulon. The many cats, dogs, horses and cattle that Margaret considered pets are testimony to her love of animals. In addition, Aunt Maggie loved bird watching, gardening and tending to her many flowers. Margaret and John were longtime active members of St. Cecilia Roman Catholic Church in Inwood. Evening prayers will be held on Tuesday, May 27 at 7:00 p.m. at MacKenzie Funeral Home, Teulon. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 28 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Cecilia Roman Catholic Church, Inwood. Interment to follow in the St. Cecilia Church Cemetery. Fr. Gerald Langevin officiating. Pallbearers will be Wilfred Maskow, Lorne Van Achte, Peter Karish, Trevor Barnes, Martin Brocker and Maurice Carman. Special thanks is extended to the staff of Goodwin Lodge for their kindness, compassion and care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Goodwin Lodge or a charity of one's choice. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Teulon in care of arrangements.
