EDITH (VERG) VERGINIA BERGTHORSON It is with great sadness the family wishes to announce the peaceful passing of Verginia Bergthorson, aged 77 years of Lundar, MB, on May 26, 2008 at the Lundar Personal Care Home with her family at her side. Verginia was born on December 9, 1930. She married Albert Bergthorson on May 14, 1949 and in 1953 they moved to Cleveland, Ohio where they lived for 35 years. In 1988 they retired and returned to Lundar, MB. Verginia was an active member of the Lundar Legion where she also enjoyed organizing and participating in the meat draws held there. She always favoured the company of others, often over a cup of coffee at the Chicken Chef. When she was able, she loved to go on various bus trips to casinos to try her luck . Verginia was predeceased by her husband Albert, and most recently, her sister-in-law and good friend Dorothy Bergthorson, her brother Tom Thorsteinson, sister Ethel Hallson, brothers-in-law Arnold Johnson and Dori Hallson. She is survived by her beloved sister Dorothy Johnson of Lundar, MB, her godchild Susan Cogler of Cleveland, OH, along with numerous nieces, nephews other family members and many friends. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m on Saturday, May 31, 2008, at the Lundar Legion Hall with Melanie Kauppila officiating. Interment of Verginia, along with her late husband Albert, will take place at the Lundar Municipal Cemetery with a luncheon to follow in the Lundar Legion Hall. Urnbearers will be Virgil Johnson and Neil Thorkelson. Honorary pallbearers will be her nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1P6 or a charity of one's choice. Thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of the E. M. Crowe Memorial Hospital, the staff of the Lundar Personal Care Home and the Ambulance attendants. Special thanks to Dr. Neil Burnet.
