MIKE BALICHOWSKI It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of our beloved Dad, grandpa and great-grandpa. Mike Balichowski on Sunday May 25, 2008 at Concordia Hospital at the age of 81. Left to cherish his memory is his daughter Wendy (Barry) and his son Wayne (Arlane). His grandchildren, Cara (Frank), Chris (Angie), and his three beloved great-grandchildren Josephine, Arianna and Asha. Mike was predeceased by his wife Jean in 1995, his sister Anne in 1989, and his brother John in 1980. Mike was known to all his friends and family affectionately as Boola . Mike was born January 21, 1927 in Transcona where he lived and worked his entire life. Mike worked at CN Transcona Shops for 44 years in the stores Department where he held many positions until his retirement in 1987. Mike was an avid gardener and all those who knew him would remember his famous pickles, which he gladly gave to friends and family. Unfortunately in 2001 Mike suffered a stroke which kept him from doing the things he loved. Mike then became a resident of Park Manor Personal Care Home, he felt it was his home. Mike met many new and wonderful people that made his days more pleasurable. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation and thanks to the staff and volunteers for making Dad very comfortable and happy. Dad will always be remembered as a perfectionist as all he did had to be right. A private family graveside service will take place at a later date when Mike will be laid to rest with his wife Jean. You are now without pain and at peace. We will miss you. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
