Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY ELIZABETH WISHART (nee MIGYU) Mary Elizabeth Wishart (nee MIGYU) passed away peacefully on May 25, 2008 after a long and difficult illness. With the daily help of her loving daughters, support of her sons and extended family, and the professional and understanding care of the dedicated staff of the German Canadian Care Home, Mary lived out her final years fully and joyfully. Special thanks to Mia Kennedy, Dr. Williams, and care givers, Jeremy, Apollo, Kimberley and Tatiana who spent many hours tending to Mary's health, comfort and well being. Mary always had a song in her heart, a smile on her lips and kind words for everyone she met. Mary was born September 4, 1921 in Polgar, Hungary and came to Canada in 1928 with her family to live in Calgary. Mary enjoyed school and was an avid reader, CBC radio fan and lifelong learner. Mary met and married George Wishart in 1943. After an extended stay in Scotland waiting for George who was in the RAF to return from the war, they moved back to live in Calgary and started a family. Mary and George travelled to reside in Winnipeg, Montreal and finally Vancouver as George's business career grew. Besides their focus on home and family, their passions included square dancing, gardening, travel and cottaging at Caddy Lake in Manitoba's Whiteshell Provincial Park. Mary was always a talented seamstress and cook, and a vigorous outdoor enthusiast. Mary was predeceased by her loving husband George, her parents, her sister Sarah (Sherry), brothers-in-law Peter Bittman and Albert Stuggert, and nephew Gordon Bittman. She is survived by her sons John (Colleen) and Rick; daughters Carol and Brenda (Dan Twa); her grandchildren, Selina; Michelle; Jennifer; Andrew; Stephanie; Alex and David. As well as her sisters Helen Stuggert; Madeline (Doug) Storey; nieces Shirley Rossiter; Sharon (Norman) Driedger; and Janice Stuggert. Mary's unconditional love, kindness, generosity, patience and positive attitude were gifts to all who knew her, and into her later years Mary's positive messages and loving advice were sprinkled with her gentle humour and practical application for everyday living. Mary was a wonderful and giving mother and grandmother dedicated to the family and she was always there for us. A private family service and celebration of Mary's life will be held in Vancouver. Expressions of sympathy may be emailed to r wishart@ducks.ca and in lieu of flowers, donations in Mary's name may be made to Ducks Unlimited Canada.
