Born: Mar 14, 1935
Date of Passing: May 27, 2008
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROY MITCHELL LIVINGSTON March 14, 1935 - May 27, 2008 We have lost someone special. It wasn't unexpected, but it still hurts. If you knew Roy, you understand the pain of losing him. Roy passed away peacefully and on his own terms at the Victoria General Hospital. Roy was predeceased by his father Robert, mother Ellen and brother Bill. Roy is survived by his wife Inga, daughter Bonnie with Dwight, Brent and Stephanie, son Scott with Linda, and son Shawn with Carla, Taylor, and Avery; sister Jean (Obert) Johnson and sister-in-law Helen Livingston and their families. Roy grew up on the Livingston family farmstead. Roy and Inga married July 8, 1961. They settled on the family farm in Starbuck in 1962 and Roy worked the land ever since. Roy was a proud man. He was very proud of his family, and said so on many occasions. It always made his eyes brighter and his smile widen whenever he was around his family. Roy was also a proud Mason; he was Lodge Master in 1976. Volunteering in the community and at church were second nature to him. If at any time help was requested, he was there. Roy was generous, and devoted his life to helping others. Dad had many friends, and those he didn't know were potential friends. Visitors were always welcomed at the farm, even if seeding or the harvest were delayed a little. The first words when you opened the door were always, Come on in! and Can you stay for dinner? . Roy's outlook on life has been an inspiration and his passing leaves an empty space in our lives. You have left us, but you will always be here. Now you can rest. Roy was a loving, giving and generous spirit, closer to the spirit of God in life than most men ever come. He is farther from us now because he is so close to God. If there is a heaven, we know he is there...and we will see him again, if we are ever as worthy. Roy, we will never forget you. Rest in peace. We love you. We would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Victoria General Hospital for the care they gave Roy over the last few years and in his final days in I.C.U. Service will be held at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Starbuck, MB, Saturday, May 31, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. Flowers gratefully declined. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Starbuck United Church Memorial Fund or Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 1101-191 Lombard Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3B 0X1. Thoughts of Roy bring a flood of good thoughts to our minds. A warm person with an amazing smile. Always engaging and genuinely interested in what was going on in the lives of others. Roy didn’t talk about himself much. In fact, Roy would attempt to put the focus back on others rather than talk about himself. He was a humble man; an admirable quality possessed by too few. The world is a better place for having had Roy in it. Roy's presence here will be missed but we are confident we will meet again.
