Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCHARLES ADAM KARL (CHARLIE) HASTMAN Charlie Hastman, aged 85 years, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 26, 2008 at the East Gate Lodge, Beausejour, MB. Charlie enjoyed many years of travelling to places such as Alaska, BC, Mexico, California, the east coast, Germany and many other countries. He loved to explore the many lakes and countryside. He was born in St. Ouens on June 8, 1922. Charlie manufactured power toboggans in the 1940s. He enjoyed donkey baseball and loved animals. He also spent time trapping squirrels and hunting with one eye, collecting and restoring antique furniture. A wheeler-dealer, a jack-of-all-trades, a painter and a handyman that could fix anything. When he took someone boating he always needed a bailing can and would ask his passenger if they could swim. Charlie enjoyed the good life for 85 years and 11 months. He is survived by his special friend Mona Rivard, his brothers Edward and Leo, his sisters Ruth, Lydia and Edna and their families, also many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, August in 1962 and Albertina in 1975, his brothers Alex and Arnold and his sisters Edith, Elsie and Wanda. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 30 at 2:00 p.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Avenue East, Beausejour with Rev. Don Reimer officiating. Interment will follow in the Beausejour Town Cemetery. Friends may view at the chapel on Friday prior to the service. Honourary pallbearers will be Roy Briese, Larry Hastman, Ed Janzen and Art Linke. Active pallbearers will be Alvin W. Hastman, Leo Hastman Jr., Roy Peitsch, Alfred Peitsch, Mervin Sachvie and Fred Hastman. The family extends special thanks to Dr. F. Zeiler and all the staff at East Gate Lodge for their wonderful care. In lieu of flowers, if friends and family so desire, donations in Charlie's memory may be made to East Gate Lodge, Box 1690, Beausejour, MB R0E 0C0.
