SHOKO TSUCHI It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved mother, wife, Obachan and friend on Sunday, May 25, 2008 at the age of 63. Shoko was predeceased by her parents. She will be lovingly remembered by her beloved husband Toshiharu, their children Eriko (James), Haruko, Seijiro, and Seizaburo, her grandson Keijiro, her sister Sanae Miyamoto, and one brother (both in Japan) who all brought so much love and happiness to her life. And the many dear friends who were inspired and touched by her courage and enthusiasm for life. Shoko was born in Hiroshima, Japan and travelled to Vancouver in 1971. She then moved to Winnipeg in 1972 where she met and married Toshiharu to raise their family. Despite the challenges of losing her eyesight in her mid 40s, she managed to overcome obstacles by remaining positive and optimistic on her outlook on life. Through hard work and determination, she learned how to read and write in Braille, and was an active member of the CNIB. While visually impaired, Shoko continued to live her life to the fullest by joining the gym, making beautiful handmade pottery, and teaching other visually impaired individuals how to knit. A celebration of Shoko's life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 31, 2008 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. There will be a gathering of family and friends following the service at the Glen Lawn Reception Centre. Thank you to Dr. R. J. Boyd for the many years she was under his care, her supportive friends and staff at CNIB along with her special friends who shared wonderful memories with Shoko. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Shoko to the CNIB in Winnipeg. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN LAWN FUNERAL HOME 455 LAGIMODIERE BLVD 982-7550
