Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRONALD ALBERT SANDERS Beloved husband, father and grandfather died at Grace Hospital, Winnipeg on May 28, 2008. He is survived by his wife Lorna, his daughters Jennifer and her husband Eugene Antymis, Gloria Saunders, Nancy Sanders, Patty Sanders and her husband Daryl Sehn. A son, David Ronald, died in infancy. Also left are his grandchildren Andrew Saunders and his wife Jenny Baker, Alison Saunders, Katie Saunders, Megan Antymis and David Antymis, his brother and sister-in-law George and Aileen Sanders, his sister, Kathleen Atkins, his sister-in-law Pauline Rankine, his nieces and nephews all of Canada, his cousins in England and close family friend Ann Naylor. He was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Emma Sanders, his brother Reg Sanders, sisters-in-law, Betty Sanders and Dorothy Sanders, nephew John Sanders, brothers-in-law Gordon Atkins and Forrest Rankine. Born in New Haven, MB on June 11, 1923, Ron received his elementary and high school education in Manitou, MB, after which he served in the R.C.A.F. in the Second World War. He married Lorna Rankine in 1949 and graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy at U. of M. in 1950. He and Lorna moved to Portage la Prairie where he worked at Hill's East Drug Store until the family moved to Beausejour in 1958. In 1959 Ron and Eyfi Walterson became co-owners of Beausejour Drugs, forming a partnership that continued to serve the community for 25 years. Friendships made during this time in Beausejour through business, membership in St. Paul's United Church, fishing and golf were valued by Ron for the rest of his days. Upon semi retirement in 1984, he and Lorna moved to Winnipeg where Ron carried on his lifelong love of golf, also camping, travelling and some new activities, in particular participation in the Winnipeg Male Chorus. Ron will be remembered with love and admiration for his devotion to his family, his loyalty to his profession, his great sense of humour, his concern for others close at hand and in the world beyond. Interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery at Portage la Prairie. A service in celebration of Ron's life will be held at Kirkfield Park United Church on Monday, June 2 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Tony Maunder officiating. The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to Dr. Fletcher, Dr. Robinson, Dr. Harris and everyone in the Department of Oncology at Grace Hospital and the staff of 4th Floor South at Grace Hospital for their care and kindness over the past two years.
