WILLIAM (BILL) MCKENZIE SHAW September 13, 1930 - May 23, 2008 It is with heavy hearts that the family of Bill Shaw announces his passing at St. Boniface Cardiac Intensive Care Unit on Friday, May 23, 2008 at the age of 77 years. Bill will be dearly missed. Remaining to forever cherish his memory are his loving family; wife Betty, sons David and Allan. On September 13, 1930, Bill was born in Edinburgh, Scotland and immigrated to Canada in 1956. He was employed by the Manitoba Liquor Control Commission until his retirement in 1985. He and Betty were married in Neepawa, on August 2, 1958. Horse racing was always a favourite sport with Bill. In 1958, he attended the opening day of racing at Assiniboia Downs. He also paid visits to many North American and British race courses. Bill and his family enjoyed years of weekend traveling to various Manitoba towns to support the Manitoba Harness Racing Circuit. Last month was a big highlight for him when thanks to modern technology; he was able to view a live broadcast of the Grand National Steeplechase from Aintree, England. Bill has had various health problems for several years. Many thanks to everyone in the medical profession who treated and helped him. We especially thank the health care staff and the team of doctors at St. Boniface Hospital Cardiac Intensive Care Unit for their care, compassion and assistance during the past three weeks. According to Bill's wishes, there will be no funeral. A private family memorial will be held later.
