Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNORMAN JAMES CAITHNESS May 18, 1934 - May 27, 2008 It is with great sadness that the family announces Norman Caithness passed away with his sister and three sons at his bedside. Dad was predeceased by his wife Muriel, brother Brian and parents Charlie and Alma. Norman is survived by his sister Bev (Ed), his son Bill and wife Gisele, grandchildren Mathieu, Francis and Catherine; son Bob and wife Gay, grandchildren Hailey and Austin; son Ron and wife Val, grandchildren Taran and Miranda. He is also survived by his ex-wife and close friend Geri, sisters-in-law Pat and Flo (Don); brothers-in-law Sandy (June), and Donny (Lillian); and numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. One of dad's joys was his place out at Hillside Beach. He was so happy to spend his retirement years in the home that he and mom planned together. He loved the fresh air and solitude but he especially enjoyed his family coming out and spending time with him at the lake enticing us all with his eight to 10 pound prime rib roasts or huge rib steaks. He also cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren, watching them grow. Dad cherished his time in the navy as a young man and liked to recall stories of this time and others to his children. He spent the majority of his working career (26 years) in the beef cooler at Canada Packers to which he gained respect for his work ethic, physical shape, and sense of humour, and at which all of his three sons had worked at some point. He spent the latter part of his career on the custodial staff at Winnipeg School Division #1, and continued to work right into his 70s part time at Hillside Beach. Dad through the kind of person he was, shaped the personalities, morals, and respect of his three sons, and he will always be remembered. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in dad's name to Cancer Care Manitoba. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at 4e at St.Boniface Hospital as well as Doctor Brunt. In dad's memory, family and friends are invited to the home of Bob and Gay on Glencoe Avenue, on Tuesday, June 3, 2008, from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m., with a celebration of dad's life at 3:00. In keeping with dad's wishes cremation has taken place.
