MARGARET (PEGGY) ANN ELIZABETH DIAMOND (née DRYDEN) May 19, 1937 May 15, 2008 Peggy was a quiet inspiration, who joyfully gave the work of her hands and heart to her family, friends and community. She was the centre of a closely knit family of 18, and is missed by husband Laurie, children Laura, Les, Jeff, Leslie, Lisa, and Rob, and by her treasured grandchildren Jesse, Daniel, Shea, Sarain, Levi, Dale, Bennett, Skyler, Coco, and Elisheva. Peggy and Laurie met when they were high school students and later planted and nurtured the seeds of a family, which has grown into a tall stand of trees throughout the 50 years of their marriage. Peggy is also missed by siblings Harvey, Joyce, Norma, Noreen, Charne, and Morrie, mother-in-law Gertie, and by close friends Betty and Phyllis. Her smile was real and bright, and her quiet gentleness and soft, encouraging words brought out the best in all of us. She was busy, dynamic, resourceful, and dedicated. She attended teachers college and taught grade one at Luxton school. She was District Manager for Fabricland, volunteered for B'nai Brith Women, the Talmud Torah PTA, and the Guardian Angel Cancer Care Benefit, and served as president of the Board of Jewish Education. In her spare time, Peggy quilted, knitted, sewed, needle-pointed, and refinished furniture, creating beautiful gifts for her family. Peggy's love of music spanned her lifetime, from music festivals as a teenager to singing with family around the Seder table to many years of singing for the Rosh Pina and Shaarey Zedek synagogue choirs. Some of Peggy's happiest times were at the Winnipeg beach cottage where she spent summers as a child and later brought her own family. This haven was a place of sunshine, shade, and family joy throughout all of Peggy's years. Heaven is in all of the peoples' hearts, Peggy's youngest grandchild explained after her passing. And so she is, and will always be, in ours. We miss you and love you.
