ALMA MARIE MORIN (nee MEILLEUR) After a courageous battle with cancer, it is with great sadness that our family announces the peaceful passing of our mother Alma, on Friday, May 30, 2008 at the age of 80 years with her children by her side. Left to mourn, sons Richard, Raymond (Francine), daughter Anita (Dan), grandchildren, Jeremy, Amanda, Alyssa, Chantal, William and Mila, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Alma was predeceased by her loving husband Wilfrid of 56 years, her parents Hormidas and Gracia (Lavigne), her brother Lucien and sister Alice. Alma was born on September 19, 1927 in Fannystelle, Manitoba and during the depression moved to Winnipeg. Mom met the love of her life in 1949 and married on June 21, 1951. Alma and Wilf made their home in St. Boniface where they raised their three children. Mom's first obligation was always to her family. Once her children were grown she returned to the workforce and worked at the Tache Centre, the Misericordia Hospital and then the Club LaVerendrye. Alma had a hard life, growing up with no father and at the age of 13 had to quit school to help support the family. Mom instilled in her children her hard working and strong family values, as well as the importance of God, Church and to always be grateful for what you have. Her first priority was always her family, from the raising of her children, to the baking, knitting and the many years of caring of her grandchildren. Mom also shared Dad's commitment to the community and volunteered her services to the Precious-Blood parish bingo, the women's parish auxiliary, and supported Dad through his many years of community service. Mom was an avid card and bingo player. One of her greatest joys in life was to entertain family and friends. A special thank you to the staff at Foyer Valade for their ongoing support, care and attention to our mother over the past several months. A funeral mass will be held at St. Emile Church, 556 St. Anne's Rd., on Wednesday, June 4 at 11:00 a.m. Internment of the cremated remains will take place at a later date at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Canadian Cancer Society Manitoba Division, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C 9Z9. You will always be in out hearts and thoughts. Until we meet again. Family and friends may sign the Book of Condolences at www.desjardins-funeral.ca DESJARDINS 233-4949 1-888-233-4949
