HAROLD POLLON It is with deep sorrow and regret we announce the passing of Harold C. Pollon on May 31, 2008 at Winnipeg, MB after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Harold was born on July 24, 1935 on the farm in the R.M. of Minto near the town of Clanwilliam, MB. He was the 4th son and 5th child of Arthur and Bertha Pollon. He grew up on the farm and received his education at Clanwillian and Grey Schools. He was employed by Canadian National Railways in 1956 as a telegrapher and retired from the company in 1993, a total of 37 years. Harold was predeceased by his parents in 1984 and 1991 and brother Douglas in 1945, his wife of 30 years Mary in 1990, also by sister Florence in 2001 and brother Walter in 2006. Harold is survived by his three children Cynthia (James Robson), Judith (Murray Watts) and Robert (Joanne); seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, also by his partner and care giver Ruth Nichols. Harold spent many of his work years in the north country at places such as Thicket Portage, Webusko, Wabowden and Churchill, where he enjoyed fishing and the great outdoors. Harold was an associate member of the Royal Canadian Legion Prince Edward Branch No. 81 and the A.A. Welcome Group. Farewell my friends. Funeral service will be held at St. Andrews United Church, Maryfield, Sask. on June 4, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. C.S.T. with interment to follow in Maryfield Cemetery. Arrangements in care of G.R. Carscadden Funeral Chapels, Moosomin, SK. Special thanks to Dr. Lee, Dr. Ogaranko and the palliative care nurses, especially Val. Memorials may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
