SID BARNES It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Sid, but through our pain we celebrate a wonderful fulfilled life. Sid was born in Sydney, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia on March 15, 1938. His mother came from Newfoundland his dad from Cape Breton. He joined the Armed Forces in September 1956 and was sent to Shilo. While there he met Lois Jackson who was also working in Shilo and they were married August 16, 1958. They spent seven years in Germany; 12 years in New Brunswick; eight years in Winnipeg; nine years in Shilo and 16 years in Matlock. Sid went from Pte to Capt. and spent 36 and one half years in the military. He leaves to mourn his wife of nearly 50 years, Lois; two children Lauri and Sidney; five grandchildren Michael, Amelia, Joshua, Sidney IV and Tanner; great-grandson Luke; two brothers David (Leona) and Daryl as well as many cousins and friends. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Knox United Church, McCreary, Manitoba with Beth McLean, DM officiating. Interment to follow at McCreary Municipal Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Sid's memory to The Canadian Heart Stroke Foundation 200 - 6 Donald Street Winnipeg, Manitoba R3L 0K6. Cheers Dad We Love You.
