Norma was born in Riverton, MB, but grew up on Hecla Island. In adulthood, she lived in Selkirk, Winnipeg, Portage La Prairie and Arborg before settling in Gimli where Husigim has been her home since 1982. Norma was a good friend to many people and she always made sure to tell you how much she appreciated everything people did and shared with her. She greatly enjoyed spending time with her friends at Heima Er Best, Shuffleboard and the Gimli Adult Day Program. Music was a great source of enjoyment for Norma. Her whole family was musical and family gatherings always included a concert. Norma loved to sing and would sit for hours listening to her music. She loved her social outings and stopping to chat with everyone she met. Norma was predeceased by her parents Bogi and Thora and two brothers, Harold and Marvin. She is survived by her brother Russell (Dorothy) of Richmond, BC and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Also her housemates, Chrissy, Marc and Roland who will miss her happy songs and caring motherly nature. Norma will be sadly missed and remembered by all her staff and friends at Heima Er Best, Adult Day Care Program, Cornerstone and many friends in the community. Norma's brother Russell expressed deep gratitude to the staff at Husigim for the wonderful care Norma has received over the years. Special thanks to Norma's cousin Johann Johnson for helping with administrative support for Norma for many years. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 6 at the Gimli Lutheran Church with Pastor Abe Harder officiating. Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli in care of arrangements.
