EDWARD TURNER REVEL Peacefully in his sleep on June 6, 2008 with family by his side. Ted was born March 11, 1925 in Eden, Manitoba to Ben and Mae Revel of Knock Earn Farm in Glenholm District. Ted married Mary Lees on June 28, 1947. They enjoyed almost 61 years of marriage and had six children. Dad was predeceased by his son Ronald (1948); his parents; his older sister Mary Evelyn Osborne; his younger brother John; his brothers-in-law, Jack Lees, John Gabor, Wilfred Osborne, Bert Lees, Muriel Lees, Laurence Lees, Bill Lees, Don Brown, Jack Rutherford. Ted is survived by his loving wife, Mary; his family Don (Linda, Cullen and Jared); Linda Green (Herman, Shaun and Riki, Lee and great- grandson Easton); Brian (Lee and Carly); Nancy; Gord (Jennifer, Adam, Matthew and Peter); sister Lois Rutherford; Muriel Revel; Mary Lees; Betty Lees; Tom Lees (Rena); Dorothy Wilson (Bob); Darlene Lees; Ruth Seddon (Harvey); Jean Brown; Roy Lees (Lois); Ellen Leitch (Sam); and numerous aunts, uncle, nieces, nephews and cousins. Ted attended Glenholm School and graduated from Eden. He joined the Air Force at 17½ years and was a bombardier in the Second World War. He worked for Pool Elevators for several years after attending a year of university. He returned for one more school year before taking a teaching Principalship in Birnie, a career that he was born to and passionate about. He continued to take courses and complete Education Degrees throughout his teaching years. Eventually they settled in Teulon in 1960 where he was principal/teacher for 27 years before retiring in 1980. He also tutored for four years at Teulon Residence. He worked as a party organizer with the Conservative party and was party President. Ted was an active baseball player (catcher), hockey player, curler and golfer. He was an avid, passionate and loyal fan and supporter of his children and grandchildren in all their activities. Ted was a proud man and loved his family deeply. Ted was involved in many organizations both as a member and often as a leader. He was decisive and you readily got his opinion. There wasn't a fence built that he was comfortable sitting on. He was active from the early years of Teulon Golf Club as an executive member and President; member of Kelwood Legion who later transferred to Stonewall Legion (active in annual poppy sales and local celebrations); Charter President of Teulon Kinsmen Club; served a number of years as Referee-in-Chief of Interlake Minor Hockey; coached baseball, hockey and football; served five years as Chairman of the Manitoba Liquor Control Commission. Ted was awarded the Queen's Jubilee Medal in October 2002. Ted loved the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, the Habs, his golf cart and apple tree. He enjoyed travelling with Mary, truly his life partner and best friend, on many trips including Scotland to visit dear friends. Ted's relationships with students were an integral part of his professional life as he truly cared and was their friend. He wore his emotions on his sleeve sometimes on yours. His association and friendship with students, staff, political acquaintances and others often created enduring relationships of mutual respect and he cherished these friendships to his final moments. Ted has elected not to have a funeral service but will be cremated and there will be a special family interment in the Neepawa Cemetery during the summer. Dad was truly a lover of Shakespeare and Tennyson with Tennyson's Crossing the Bar one of his favourite poems: And may there be no sadness of farewell when I embark, I hope to see my Pilot face to face when I have crossed the bar. His favourite lines from his favourite hymn In the Garden were: And He walks with me and He talks with me; And He tells me I am His own; And the joy we share as we tarry there, None other has ever known.
