KAREN DALE COLTON It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Karen Dale Colton on June 5, 2008 at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg at the age of 50. Karen is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband Philip Colton; daughter Valerie Deacon; parents, Emily and John Unger, sister Rosalie Kardynal, and brother Chris Unger. She was predeceased by her brother Glen Unger. Karen will also be greatly missed by her niece, nephews, and her many friends, family members and co-workers. Karen was born in Winnipeg on September 2, 1957. After living in Toronto for several years, she moved back to Winnipeg after the birth of her daughter. She began her career as a legal assistant and had only recently celebrated her twentieth year of working at the law offices of Fillmore Riley. During those twenty years, Karen bought a house on Carmen Ave., where she spent many sunny days in the garden and visiting with friends and neighbours. It was there that she met Phil, who she married in 2002. Together they bought a new house, into which they put much love and care over the past six years. Karen loved to be outside, whether in the garden or at the family cabin. She was also very fond of animals, and was frequently bringing home strays. She was the most compassionate and loving person to come through our lives and gave us all the strength to become the people we are today. She is loved more than words can express. A celebration of Karen's life will take place on Tuesday, June 10 2008 at 1:00 pm in the reception area of Voyage Funeral Home at 220 Hespeler Ave. The family would like to extend our sincere appreciation for all the expressions of condolences we have received. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
