EMMA HELENE JONES (formerly WALTERS) (nee ZIPP) On Friday, June 6, 2008, Emma peacefully left us in her sleep at Deer Lodge Centre. Emma leaves to cherish her memory, her son Gerry (Bonnie) Walters; daughter Janice (Dave) Yakel; grandchildren Krista (Carl), Kerri (Ian), Jeff (Alison) and Breanne (T.J.); brother Otto Zipp; an extended family in Ontario; as well as many nieces and nephews. Emma was predeceased by her husbands Sam Walters and Bill Jones, and sister Teresa. Emma was born Dec 8, 1924, to Rudolph Zipp and Augustina Ruck on Herbert Ave in Elmwood. She met and married Sam in 1943 and raised her family on the same street. After Sam's death in 1966, she worked at Eaton's mail order and then Revenue Canada Tax Centre until her retirement in 1985. In 1995, Emma married Bill and had seven wonderful years together. They enjoyed vacationing in Florida, Palm Springs, the Maritimes and many trips to Ontario to visit Bill's family. Emma enjoyed baking, visiting with family and friends over coffee and dainties, attending the Holy Cross Church Seniors Club and Aquasizing at Concordia Pool. The family extends their deepest gratitude to the staff at Deer Lodge Centre (3rd Floor) for their exceptional care and compassion in Emma's final days. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday June 11 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Church 708 McCalman Ave with Rev. Richard Kruesel officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or charity of one's choice. Emma, we love you and will hold you close in our hearts and memories forever.
