During this ordeal Ray was always more concerned with her friends and family than herself. Remaining to forever cherish Ray's memory are her beloved husband, John; son, Chris; daughter-in-law April, grandchildren Braeden and Declan. She is also survived by her brother Dana and sister Rosalie, many nieces and nephews and special friends. Ray was predeceased by her father Alex in 1970, mother Marion in 2001, and sister Rosalin in 2003. Ray was born in Woods Harbour, Nova Scotia on November 18, 1947. It was while living in Halifax that she met her husband, John Blackham. They married on February 13, 1971. During their marriage Ray and John lived in Dartmouth and Greenwood Nova Scotia finally settling in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1984. On November 13, 1975 they were thrilled with the birth of their only child Chris. One of the greatest joys of Ray's life was the birth of her first grandson Braeden, on November 5, 2003. To her delight her second grandson Declan was born on December 7, 2007. Ray loved her grandchildren with all of her heart and soul and spent many enjoyable hours with them. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, doting grandmother and friend. There was not a soul that Ray would not go out of her way to help. Ray touched the hearts of all who met her, and will be missed by many people.
