IAN WILLIAM KLASSEN It is with great sorrow that we, the family, announce the sudden passing of Ian William Klassen: a son, brother, uncle, nephew and friend on June 8, 2008. Ian is survived and lovingly remembered by his parents, William and Dale Klassen, his siblings Beth (husband Gregory and daughter Amelia), Emily (husband Xavier) and John (partner Nicole). Also left to mourn his passing are Erin, his extended family, a large circle of friends and his pets-Demi, Bernie and Stuart. Ian was born on September 2, 1972. He spent his childhood surrounded by family and friends and enjoyed hockey, dirt biking, summers at Victoria Beach, drawing, building things (remember the clogs!!!) and hanging with his buddies. A graduate of St. Charles Academy, St. Paul's High School and the University of Manitoba, Ian worked in the financial services industry. Early in his career work took him to Dryden, but his love of travel took him all over the map. Ian loved to learn about the history and culture of the places he visited and always shared his stories when he returned. Some of his favourite trips were those he took to visit his sister and brother-in-law in Barcelona as well as the ones to various NFL games with his dad and brother. Go Packers! Ian valued family and friends and was the type of person who would be there for you no matter what time of day. He loved talking about politics, the stock market, current events and everything else with his dad, his best friend, and always looked forward to Sunday dinners at 43 organized by his mom, his biggest supporter. He was an eloquent speaker and entertained all as MC at his sisters' weddings and most recently he spoke lovingly of his grandmother at her funeral. Ian was always prepared with a quick comment that suited any situation. A celebration of Ian's life will be held at Churchill Park United Church, 525 Beresford Avenue, on Friday, June 13, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. A reception will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, a bursary fund has been set up in Ian's name at St. Paul's High School, 2200 Grant Ave., Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3P 0P8 and donations may be made in Ian's name. I'll always carry you in my heart my boy. We love you Ian. THOMSON FUNERAL HOME 669 BROADWAY, WINNIPEG, MB R3C OX4 783-7211 Send expressions of sympathy at www.mem.com

  • Ian was always there when you needed him. Especially with a funny story, advice, or someone to talk to. We used to get in trouble a lot at work because we were always playing pranks on each other. He was a great guy. He is missed... - Posted by: Charles Michael (Friend/Co-Worker) on: Apr 06, 2013
