Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOREENE JOYCE PHILLIPS (nee FRANKLAND) 1925 - 2008 It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness the family announces the passing of our beloved Doreene on Saturday, June 7, 2008 with her family at her side. Doreene was predeceased by her mother and father, Jean and Jack Frankland; her brothers Richard (Patty), Len (Eileen) and sister Elleane (Dan). She is survived by her devoted husband Alf of 61 years; her daughter Lynda (Derek); her son Randy (Sandie); four grandchildren, Tina (Rob), Trevor, Leigh (Shawn), Nicole (Jason) and four great-grandchildren, Brayden, Tyler, Grady, Kyle, along with her brother Keith (Dene) of Princeton, BC and many loved nieces and nephews. She was a woman of great determination which showed during her fierce battle with dementia. But finally she ran out of strength and succumbed to this ravaging disease. Doreene was born in Winnipeg and lived most of her life here but every summer was spent at Grand Beach where she was well known and loved. The family would like to thank the St. Boniface Hospital 4E Geriatric Medicine, the Victoria Hospital 5th floor Palliative Care, the Golden Door Nursing Home and all the doctors and nurses who cared for our Doreene. In keeping with Doreene's wishes, cremation has taken place and a reception celebrating her life will be held on Thursday, June 12 between 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. in the Coutu Funeral Home, 680 Archibald St. In lieu of flowers, donations in Doreene's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba, 10 - 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2. If she touches your shoulder on the way, you have been touched by angel. The Coutu family in care of arrangements: E.J. COUTU CO. FUNERAL DIRECTORS 680 Archibald St. 253-5086
