ELIZABETH MAUD CLAYTON On June 8, 2008, with her family by her side, Elizabeth Maud Clayton passed away, with peace and dignity at the Grace Hospital from the effects of a stroke. She was, in death, as in life an extremely strong person. Maud was predeceased by her devoted husband of 48 years Theodore F. Clayton in May 1990. A truly loving and giving person Maud took great pride in her family. Those who remain to cherish her memory are son Gerald Clayton, daughter Louise Dureault, grandchildren Colin Dureault, Danielle Dureault and her husband Adam Franklin, and great-grandson Aidan Franklin. Maud was born in Vancouver but moved to Winnipeg at a young age with her family. She attended Young United Church where she met Ted. Because Ted had joined the Royal Canadian Air Force, travel became a part of life for this couple. His retirement brought the family back to Winnipeg where Maud worked for the T.E. Eaton Company and as the supervisor of the Switchboard at Grace Hospital on Arlington Street. Maud could always be counted on to help whatever organization to which she belonged. She enjoyed round and square dancing, hosting dances in her home. She helped the Nooners at the Reh-Fit Centre as her husband recuperated from heart surgery. She worked with the United Church Women groups in their fundraising efforts for the church. Maud also enjoyed travelling. She crossed much of Canada, the United States. She visited parts of Europe, Africa, Australia, cruised in the Caribbean and South Pacific, with Hawaii being her favourite. In later years Maud joined the Charleswood Day Club. She found this particularly enjoyable and again her positive, cheerful attitude blessed her with dear friends. In keeping with her wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, should friends so desire donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 200 - 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3L 0K6. As we grieve for you this day Our hearts are filled with sorrow There are no words that can express The emptiness of tomorrow So rest in peace, as we go on You said that we must do The memories of your life and love Will help to guide us through Love always Louise *Chapel Lawn 885-9715
