Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALEC LAWRENCE SMYTH It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Alec Lawrence Smyth on Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at the age of 77 years. Al will be forever missed by his daughter Candy Frobisher (Dennis), son Jamie (Darice) his two grandchildren Tara Murray (Brad) Chad Zimmerman (JoAnna) great-granddaughters Ashley, Rachael and Brook. He also leaves behind his fiancee May Allen and her son Ken (Laurie). Al was born in Winnipeg and for the majority of his life lived in Winnipeg. After 31 years with the Winnipeg Police department Al retired in 1987 and was lucky enough to enjoy many years of retirement. Al's favorite times were spent with family and friends. He enjoyed sitting on the deck at the lake watching the hummingbirds and playing with the numerous family pets. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service celebrating Al's life will be held on Monday, June 16, 2008 at St. Andrew's River Heights United Church, 255 Oak St. at 2:30 p.m. The family would like to sincerely thank Dr. John Peterson who looked after dad over the years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Al's memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB, R3T 0R3. LECLAIRE BROTHERS in care of arrangements. 775-2220

Well Pa, I was just watching a movie called First Man. It was about when Neil Armstrong landed his craft on the moon and he stepped down onto its surface. I was 12 years old then. I was in my bedroom that I shared with my sister, Candy and I remember you calling me out and said Jaim, come here and watch this. They’re landing on the moon. At 12 years old, I guess I wasn’t up-to-date with this historic moment but it’s one of my fondest memories of you. You told me to remember this for the rest of my life and I have.
