KATHLEEN ELIZABETH (BETTY) LAWRENCE (BROWNRIGG)
Date of Passing: May 30, 2008
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKATHLEEN ELIZABETH (BETTY) LAWRENCE (nee BROWNRIGG) On May 30, 2008 at Father Lacombe Care Centre, Calgary, Alberta. Kathleen died peacefully, showing her characteristic determination and energy to the end of her life. Born and raised in Winnipeg, the highlight of Betty's younger years was serving in the Royal Canadian Air Force (1942 to 1946) stationed in Lethbridge and Ottawa. During that time she met and married Alex. Together they raised four children in Winnipeg and enjoyed many happy hours involved in the social life of Charleswood, and entertaining friends at their L'il Elm farm. Betty also worked for many years for the Hudson's Bay Company and InnerCity Gas in Winnipeg. In 1993 she decided to take on a new life, a new city (Calgary) and a renewed name Kathleen. Kathleen's greatest pride and joy was her grandchildren: Emma, Izzy, Michael, Garth and Ian. Kathleen was predeceased by her husband Alexander Glenn, son Michael Alexander, brothers Gus, Frank, Jack and Gerry Brownrigg and her sister Peggy Waksdale. She is survived by her children Will (Barb), Tacey and Rosemary (Raulph), her grandchildren, her sister Patricia, and numerous nieces and nephews. We are so grateful to the many health care angels Kathleen found in Calgary. Dr. Martin Davies and the staff at the Mount Royal College Wellness Centre helped her stay happily independent as long as possible, and then the exceptional people at the Father Lacombe Care Centre provided the best kind of compassionate care. Companion Mary R. magically turned Mom's confusion to joy and laughter during her last two years. If friends wish, donations to the Father Albert Lacombe Home Society, 332 - 146 Ave., SE, Calgary, AB T2X 2A3, or a seniors' support group of your choice would be appreciated. A family service will be held at the gravesite in Winnipeg on June 28, 2008. For further information, please contact tacey@telus.net.
