ALDWYN (AL) LYDER Mr. Aldwyn Al Lyder passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on May 14, 2008 at the age of 73 years. Al was born in the sunny island of Trinidad and Tobago. He was the only child of Henry and Matilda Lyder. He proved to be a good all around student, excelling in academics and sports. Al completed his elementary and secondary education in the Caribbean. In 1955, he came to North Battleford, Saskatchewan on a scholarship studying to become a psychiatric nurse and then a social worker. Al worked as a social worker at the Brandon Mental Hospital from 1965 to 1990. He was an exemplary employee. Al was an avid gardener, yard sale devotee, clock collector and animal lover. He was committed to the welfare and success of others. He was a caring father, devoted son and lifelong supporter and source of encouragement to many, many others. Al is survived by two children, one son Wally Lyder and three grandchildren; one daughter Carla Lyder. He was predeceased by his mother, Matilda Lyder in December 2006. The Funeral Service was held at the Seventh Day Adventist Church on May 22, 2008 with Pastor Rick Harwood officiating. Interment followed at the Brandon Cemetery.
