ROY MONYCH
Born: Jul 03, 1936
Date of Passing: Jun 12, 2008
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROY MONYCH July 3, 1936 - June 12, 2008 His weary hours and days of pain His troubled nights are passed, And in our aching hearts we know He has found sweet rest at last. Roy was a devoted family man and a gifted mechanic until a tragic accident in 1977. Always a curious man, Roy loved to figure out how things worked. And everyone was amazed when he got it back together working! From a very early age, music was his passion. Together with his brothers and a few friends, they formed a band named the Melody Stars that roamed the country sides of Manitoba - dance halls to house parties - for many years playing traditional Ukrainian and country music. Roy's musical talent lives on through his grandson Matt who strums away on Grampa's treasured Martin guitar (with his large mitts, that he also inherited from his grandfather!) Roy leaves to mourn his wife of 45 years, Ruth, daughter Cheryl (Wally and Marshall); grandchildren, Lauren and Matthew; and mother-in-law Julia Drabyk. He is survived by sisters Joyce, Elsie, his brother Nick and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Harry and Helene (Chorney), and siblings Olga, Francis, Walter, Martin and Gordon, as well as father-in-law Steve Drabyk, brother-in-law Larry and his wife Linda. Since the reoccurrence of his cancer, Roy lived for the companionship of his best friend and wife Hun (Ruth) and the company of his family - especially Lauren, Matt and Colin, and family friends. We would like to thank all of the exceptional caregivers in the Pinawa Hospital and the Lac du Bonnet Home Care who made Roy's last two weeks at home possible. Thanks to the friends and relatives (you know who you are!) who have been there within the happy times, and now in this sad and difficult time in our lives. Most importantly, I would like to thank my mother, Ruth, for the selfless devotion and incredible care that she provided for Dad over the many years of his physical disabilities. Only true love can endure the trials faced by this couple - you both have taught us many life lessons for which we are grateful. Cremation has taken place and a private memorial service will take place at a later date. Flowers and donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Facing the Unknown: Kind and caring God, My once secure life now holds tremendous change. Come into my turmoil and quiet my anxiety. Be there with the gifts of your peace and guidance Let me not be overwhelmed with fear of the unknown. Grant me the ability to face what awaits me Take my hand and assure me that you will always be with me, No matter what the future holds.
