EVELYN MAY SHAMBROCK (nee LOFVENDAHL) On Saturday, June 7, 2008, one of the kindest hearts in the world stopped beating. At 8:30 p.m. in the arms of her daughter and granddaughters, Evelyn passed away at the Grace General Hospital. A fighter to the end, she had battled back from a stroke and the devastating effects of Dementia and Alzheimer's. Through it all, we could always catch a glimpse of who she really was, our sweet little Nanny. Remaining to forever cherish Evelyn's memory are her loving, devoted daughter and granddaughters, Katherine, Nichole, and Chalaine, with whom she had resided with for the past five years. Born October 3, 1922, she was predeceased by her parents and all of her siblings; nine brothers and four sisters. She lost the love of her life; husband Albert, on January 7, 1968 and her son John, July 11, 2006. In compliance with Evelyn's wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. A private interment will take place at a later date. Our family would like to thank Shelia and Colin of the WRHA's home care office for enabling us to keep our promise to Nanny to remain at home with us. To Pat and Helen, we are eternally grateful for the loving care provided at home and at the hospital. We thank the crew of the Fire Paramedic Service for their quick response and the gentle way they cared for her. To the staff of Grace Hospital's ER and 3 North, we have no words to express our gratitude for the care and compassion given to all of us during the last days of Evelyn's life. Allowing us to be with her around the clock during that time was truly a gift. Thank you also to the Chaplain for his comforting presence. We shall never forget the kindness shown to us by everyone. Mom, your love and support carried me through my darkest days. I shall love and cherish your memory forever. Nanny, thank you for taking care of us, loving us, and never judging us. We will miss and love you always. Until we meet again. Love, your Girls XOXO
