IVAN BIBLOW 1936 - 2008 It is with profound sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Ivan on the evening of June 12. Ivan leaves to mourn his wife Heather; his children, Suzanne (Grant), Shelley (Ken), Sharon and Shaun. His grandchildren, Jeremy and Joshua Dally, Tanner and Caden Kulcsycki, Tyler Crosson, Mason and Elle McNamara, Vanessa, Braiden, Jordon and Kian Biblow. Stepchildren Darcie and Cameron; step grandchildren, Dontai and Felica Wilson, Jayden and Kyron Beaton, great step grandchild Tatiana. He also leaves in Heather's care his beloved dog Ricky. Ivan also leaves to mourn his Mother, Helen Biblow; brothers, George (Chris) and family, Dave (Laurie) and family; sisters, Elaine (Vern deceased) and Donna. He is predeceased by his father Peter Biblow. Ivan was well known throughout Manitoba for his outstanding dedication and contributions to education. He participated on many committees with the Winnipeg Teachers Association, the Winnipeg School Division and the Manitoba Teacher's Society. He was very involved in the Winnipeg Principal's Association. Ivan's special interest was in Exceptional Students. He was principal of Gladstone School that had the oral deaf program and was instrumental in having Ellen Douglas School for Physically and Multiple-Handicapped Students integrated into Lord Roberts School. Ivan was the Recipient of the Merit Award from the Council for Exceptional Children in 1983. Ivan served as both president and then governor of the Council for Exceptional Children and as chairman of the board for Children's Home of Winnipeg (now New Directions). Ivan was so pleased when he and Heather graduated together with their Master's Degrees in 1985. Ivan was particularly proud to have been appointed the principal of Stanley Knowles School when it opened and he retired from there in 1992. Ivan really enjoyed travelling both before and during his retirement years. He and Heather enjoyed a variety of adventures in many different countries, camping out in Thailand and Australia, touring Europe, many trips to Cuba and the Caribbean and a variety of cruises. These were especially enjoyed when they were joined by family and friends. On a daily basis Ivan enjoyed his coffee time with Neal and Gil. On a weekly basis there was golf with Joe, Charlie, Grant, Wally and Dave. Monthly there was the poker group and the support of the men's group that he belonged to. A memorial service is being held at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home 1291 McGillivray Blvd on Wednesday June 18, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. Our deep appreciation to Gary and Monique Oakley, the paramedics and police. Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • I was the speech-language clinician assigned to the students with special needs at Lord Roberts School while Ivan and Cathi Hill were co-principals. Ivan encouraged creativity in his staff, supported our endeavors and led by his dedication to the welfare of children. His favourite words were: "Go for it." - Posted by: Margaret Ellis (Co-Worker) on: Jun 21, 2008

  • I'll always have fond memories of Ivan who was my Principal at King Edward School in 1975. He was always someone who would hear of our needs and find a way to help us achieve them. He was a leader I later tried to emulate, for I found his leadership so valuable. - Posted by: Don McLaren (Co-Worker) on: Jun 17, 2008
