MARJORIE MCKENZIE Marjorie McKenzie died peacefully on Sunday, June 15, 2008 after a healthy and full life of 94 years. She was born on December 9, 1913 in Scotland. Marje was devoted to her parents, David and Mary, and her only brother David who died in Italy during the Second World War. She loved to reminisce about the fun family times they had together. Marje's family originally emigrated from Scotland during the 1920s and settled in Alberta. They later moved to Winnipeg when her father accepted a position with the City of Winnipeg Parks Department. Marje led a very active life. She retired after many years as a supervisor from Eaton's catalogue department. After her retirement she decided to return to work at Birks Jewelry as a bridal consultant. Her calendar was filled with family, friends and her beloved Westie pups. Known for winning the longest drive awards at Eaton's golf tournaments, Marje also loved to travel, read and garden. She especially enjoyed her trips with friends to Hawaii and Portugal, and the opportunity she had to travel to Italy to visit her brother David's resting place. She was a good friend who always made time for her friends. She was able to enjoy her independence, right up until her recent illness. Marje had a strong faith, trusting the Lord would always provide. She thanked him daily for his presence in her life. Marje is survived by her cousin Bill and the Skinner family; her cousin Jean Thomson in Elgin, Scotland; dear family friends, Ken and Margo Cameron; and her very close friends Winnie and Bea Nash. A celebration of Marje's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 19 at Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway at Furby, Winnipeg. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made to The Salvation Army or The Winnipeg Humane Society.
