Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryH. DOUGLASS HAMILTON December 9, 1927 - June 15, 2008 With his family at his side, Doug peacefully passed away on Sunday, June 15, after an accidental fall. Left to miss him and keep his stories are his beloved wife Marjory, his children Lynda (John), Christina (Wayne), Stephen (Donna), Kim (Gary), his grandchildren Penny, Wesley, and Tara of Ontario, Erica and Shannon of British Columbia, Kyle and Kelsey, Katie and Heather of Winnipeg, and Amanda Marie. His great-grandsons Kai and Perrin, and Ian and Cody may grow up with few memories, but they will ultimately be the keepers of his tales. Also left to miss him are his brothers Robert (Beth) and Bill (Merle) both of Ontario, and numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws across the country. Doug was predeceased by his parents Howard and Maude, and his two sisters Helen and Jean. Born in Sherbrooke, Nova Scotia, he met and married Marj in Guelph, Ontario, where they started their lives and family together. In 1972 a business opportunity brought the family to Winnipeg, on a cold - 40 degree January day. He prospered in the business that he and Marj ran together, Zimmer Hamilton Associates, until his retirement in 1987. After that, his leisure was spent travelling with friends, following Marj's curling exploits, and entertaining all those who landed at the cottage on West Hawk Lake, MB. He was a longtime member of the Masonic Lodge - Sturgeon Creek No. 145. He served his lodge as Master in 1981, and as the Right Worshipful District Deputy Grand Master in 1993-94. His tenor voice and harmonica will be missed at family gatherings. We will remember him whenever the whistling bird calls and waits for Dad's reply. He shared his love and good humour freely with all who met him and was loved in return. His family was the centre of his happiness and he will be deeply missed. A service to honour Doug's life will be held on Friday, June 20, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to a charity of your choice.
