KATHLEEN (KATH) M. SIGURDSON (nee SAY) Kath was born in Winnipeg on October 14, 1919 to Edith and Charles Say but lived the best part of her life in Fairford MB until the 1950s. She had a hard life but always reminisced about Fairford and the many wonderful memories she had of farm life and the special friends some of whom she has to this day. Kath was predeceased by her husband Ray in 1980 and only son George in 1995. She passed with peace and dignity from the loving circle of family and friends to the loving arms of her family in heaven. Kath's home was the centre and foundation of her life. There she dedicated herself to supporting and nurturing both the bodies and souls of her immediate and extended family. Kath was a remarkable role model and provided guidance to us all through her own example (always telling us to do one good deed a day!) She was a wonderful homemaker with an open door policy that treated any and all to homemade cooking and baking any time of the day or night. Loneliness was never a problem for Kath! Kath's greatest pride and joy was her home on Bonner and the freedom to beautify every inch of that one and a half acres! She worked tirelessly even after Ray passed to keep it as a floral show place. Kath met many people throughout her working years and always kept in touch with everyone till the end. She enriched the lives of everyone who had the good fortune of knowing her. Kath was a longtime member of St. Saviors Anglican Church and always supported various church events by including all of us in Fowl suppers or craft events and even witnessing to all of us in her own quiet way! We will always remember her as a fighter with a tremendous heart. She suffered many illnesses and surgeries without complaint always telling us to Fall Forward and Never Look Back! There were times we are sure that was not easy to do. Kath leaves to mourn, Judy, Rob, Cindy, Ciara, Dawn-Lee, Nash, Neesha, Asha, Margaret, Barry, Linda, Sean, Carter, nieces, nephews, and many in her extended family. As well her best friend for 70 years, Eva Schreyer (Edm) will miss her visits and cribbage games! We Love You AMMA, we were so lucky to have your guiding light and wisdom for so many years. We know it is time for you to rest now. Ray, George, Charlie, Edith, Sonny, and Mary are waiting for you. PIP PIP (as you would say!) and God Bless. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway on Friday, June 20, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Richard Condo presiding. Interment to follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Flowers are greatly accepted at Thomson Funeral Home as Amma (Kath) loved her flowers. Donations can also be made in her memory to St. Saviors Anglican Church. THOMSON FUNERAL HOME 669 BROADWAY, WINNIPEG, MB R3C OX4 783-7211 Send expressions of sympathy at www.mem.com

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • When I lost most of my family, you opened your heart and your home and made me feel like I was part of yours. You gave a little boy a safe haven in a storm and a place to feel welcome. Over the years, I came to think of you as part of my family. I don't know what would have happened without you. Thank you for all you've done and for everything you've meant to me throughout my life. Goodbye Auntie Kath. Love Dwayne - Posted by: Dwayne Denchuk (Friend) on: Jun 18, 2008
